Whether you are buying a tiny home, mansion, or even just a simple condo, here are some things to consider before putting your home up on the market.
Buyers will judge a book by it’s cover: Adding curb appeal welcomes interested buyers to feel comfortable to walk in. Walking up to a house with dying flowers and branches everywhere doesn’t give it, “buy me,” impression. Pressure washing the siding, trimming the hedges, planting some flowers, and adding a fresh coat of paint to the front door. Can help boost curb appeal.
Give your home a facelift: We are not talking about the whole shebang in remodeling, but taking care of any major defects in your home such as a leaking roof or cracked floor tiles, will definitely give a better inside impression.
Don’t take it personally: Putting those personal belongings away, such as family portraits, heirlooms, and other belongings, allows the interested buyers to picture themselves growing and expanding their lives in your home. Creating this type of environment will actually improve the chance of selling on the market.
Hit the lights: Having a dimly-lit home gives it almost a “cave-like” feel which may not appeal to your average couple ready to start a family. Natural light is the best kind of lighting to any home; open those windows, window blinds, and add weather doors to let the rooms sparkle with the sun’s rays.
When in doubt, act it out: Staging your home is like letting each room speak in their own way. For the kitchen, grab a large bowl of fruit with shiny red apples, juicy grapes, and oranges; great for a centerpiece for any table, bar, or countertop. For the bathrooms, have a basket of towels tied with ribbons, scented soap in a dish, and place lotions in decorative bottles. If you don’t know where to begin in staging your home, we know somebody who does!
